Queen Square in Wolverhampton
The city ranked highly in Provident’s Unbroken Britain Communities survey for being welcoming, polite, safe and well kept.
It also ranked highly for being a happy place to live, with residents trusting each other – and also for gossiping.
It comes after a series of surveys ranked the city as being one of the worst – with a YouGov poll of more than 55,000 in 2018 naming it the second-worst in Britain, behind Bradford.
Wolverhampton Council leader, Councillor Ian Brookfield, said: “It is no surprise to me to hear that our city has been ranked as the best place to live in the UK according to Provident’s survey.
“In the past Wolverhampton has sometimes unfairly been portrayed in a negative fashion – but I can tell you it has always been a welcoming, friendly, polite, safe, trusting and happy place to live, learn and work.
“It is these qualities and the fantastic spirit the people of our city possess that I am sure will help us get through this unprecedented period of uncertainty as we all rally together.”

A Drunken idea
Like most crazy ideas, ours came to us over drinks on a tipsy Friday night, in our London living room. Dismayed by a sad excuse for an Indian takeaway, we began to reminisce about the food of our childhood, which was always an eclectic mix of Indian and British cultures. We wondered…why had there been no similar attempts with a drink?

The world first.
Remembering fondly the days of tarka baked beans and spam sabji, we discussed how best to create a drink that combined our Indian heritage and British upbringing. That’s where the lassi comes in. On hot summer days, our grandfathers in Punjab chose lassi as their drink of choice for it’s refreshing properties. Deciding to transform this traditionally non-alcoholic beverage, we mixed it with traditional Indian spices and the quintessentially British spirit to create the world’s first clear lassi gin.

The Dr Eamers’ Family
Our family has been distilling Spirits for Three Generations, the only way we know how… by hand. We use a traditional Alembic Copper Pot Still, which allows for all of the beautiful botanical essence to be captured. We use only the best and freshest Botanicals: from hand peeling our Citrus, to preparing and chopping our fresh Fruit, ensures every single batch of our Spirit is wonderfully fresh, clean and complex.
Our History
Founded by Jordan Lunn in 2017 after years of crafting Spirits at his home Distillery. “I had been crafting Spirits for years, with the growth in popularity for Gin friends and family would often ask if I could make them some Gin.
This quickly grew arms and legs and resulted in us moving into our first proper home for the Distillery, and out of the back bedroom” laughed Jordan. “My Mother and Sister joined the business full time to help us keep up with the growing demand and in October 2019 we opened our first Bar, Dr Eamers’ Distillery Bar. We now have a fantastic team of 9 great people and our goal of creating fine craft spirits remains the same as always.”
Our Values
Our Values have always been to create the best products we can in a truly handcrafted method, using the best ingredients that we can. To ensure our whole team from the Distillery Team to the Bar Team understand the process of distillation and all have the opportunity to distil our Spirits first hand with our founder, to better appreciate the craft. Always be innovating and developing new methods, skills and recipes. And most importantly, to have FUN.
Our Method
We start by selecting the best possible Botanicals and letting our ripe Juniper Berries and aromatic Coriander seeds macerated in our spirit for 24 hours. We then add our blend of highlight Botanicals which changes based on which recipe we are making but include: Fresh Citrus Fruits, Fresh Berries, Lemon Thyme, Lavender, Tellicherry Pepper, Grains of Paradise, Cubeb Berries, Angelica, Orris, Liquorice Root, Cinnamon and Bramley Apple just to name a few.
We use a traditional Copper Alembic still for our Distillation, Distilling on a low open flame to ensure a gradual even heating of the spirit. We even seal our still with a bread mixture made from Rye Flour, which is the traditional method and ensures only natural products are used throughout.
We use only Copper in our Distillation equipment for two reasons: 1 it allows for a better distribution of heat 2. It removes Sulphides, which are what help give you a bad head. During our Distillation we take 5 cuts, cuts 1 and 5 don’t make our final spirit and cuts 2-4 are blended together to ensure consistency between batches.
With our Dry Gin and Prescription Strength Gin, we simply blend the Distillate with water, retaining the full essence of their Botanicals, making it a “One Shot” Gin and giving it a superior smoothness and flavour profile. Due to the full essence of those Botanical oils you will see subtle pearlescence, “Louche” or clouding of the liquid when Ice or a Mixer is added.
Our range of award winning Spirits are lovingly Handcrafted at our Distillery – The West Midlands Distillery.
Set in the heart of The West Midlands and Distilled by a family of Distillers, in small batches.

Peaky Blinder Gin.
It is, in keeping with the genre of the series, a very spicy gin. This Peaky Blinders gin is brewed in the Sadler’s brewery, which has been brewing in England’s famous ‘Black Country’ since 1900. This is the area north and west of Birmingham and south and east of Wolverhampton.
There are nine botanicals in Sadler’s Peaky Blinder Spiced Dry Gin, with the peppery flavours of ginger and grains of paradise, also called guinea pepper or melegua pepper, dominating. The photo on the label depicts Thomas Gilbert, later known as Kevin Mooney, who was one of the most famous members of the Peaky Blinders.
Peaky Blinder Spiced Gin has been produced by Sadler’s peaky blinders for over a century. Made from exotic herbs and spices, it is an impressive gin with flavors of ginger, black pepper and a hint of cassia in the background.
