Walnut Tree grow and Harvest
Walnut trees are renowned for their delicious and nutritious nuts, which are prized by many for their distinct flavor and health benefits. Growing a walnut tree is a time-consuming process that requires patience and attention to detail, but the rewards of a bountiful harvest are well worth the effort.
Walnut trees typically take 4 to 5 years to start producing nuts, but can take up to 10 years to reach full maturity. It is important to choose a suitable location for planting, as walnut trees require plenty of sunlight and well-drained soil. The trees should be spaced at least 30 feet apart to allow for proper growth and development.
Once planted, walnut trees require regular maintenance to ensure healthy growth and optimal nut production. This includes watering, fertilizing, and pruning as needed. Walnut trees can be susceptible to certain diseases and pests, so it is important to monitor the trees regularly and treat any issues promptly to prevent damage to the crop.
Harvesting walnuts is typically done in the fall, when the nuts are ripe and ready to be picked. The nuts are encased in a thick, green hull that must be removed before the nuts can be eaten. This can be done by allowing the nuts to dry and crack open on their own, or by using a hulling machine to remove the hulls manually.
Once the hulls have been removed, the nuts can be stored in a cool, dry place for several months. Fresh walnuts can be eaten raw or used in a variety of culinary dishes, from baked goods to salads and savory dishes. The nuts can also be shelled and stored for longer periods of time, allowing for enjoyment throughout the year.
In conclusion, growing and harvesting walnut trees is a fulfilling and rewarding experience that can provide a bountiful harvest of delicious and nutritious nuts. With proper care and attention, walnut trees can thrive for many years, providing a valuable source of food and enjoyment for generations to come. So why not consider planting a walnut tree in your yard or garden and enjoy the fruits of your labor for years to come?
Walnut used as Botanical in Gin Distillery
The use of botanicals in gin distillation is a centuries-old practice that adds depth and complexity to the spirit’s flavor profile. One lesser-known botanical that is gaining popularity in the industry is the walnut. The walnut is not only a delicious and nutritious nut, but it also brings a unique and rich flavor to gin when used as a botanical in the distillation process.
Walnuts are high in tannins, oils, and antioxidants, which give them a distinct and robust flavor profile. When used in gin distillation, walnuts impart a nutty, earthy, and slightly bitter taste that complements the traditional botanicals like juniper, coriander, and citrus peels. This adds a layer of complexity to the gin and can create a truly unique and memorable drinking experience.
In addition to their distinctive flavor, walnuts also bring various health benefits to the gin. The antioxidants in walnuts can help protect against oxidative stress and inflammation, while the oils and tannins can aid in digestion and improve overall well-being. This makes walnut-infused gin not only a tasty drink but also a health-conscious choice for consumers.
Furthermore, the sustainability of walnuts makes them an attractive botanical for distilleries looking to reduce their environmental impact. Walnuts are a tree nut that grows abundantly in many regions and can be harvested in a way that promotes biodiversity and ecosystem health. This makes them a more environmentally friendly choice compared to some other exotic or rare botanicals that may be over-harvested or sourced unsustainably.
Overall, the use of walnuts as a botanical in gin distillation offers a multitude of benefits to both producers and consumers. From their rich and complex flavor profile to their health benefits and sustainability, walnuts are a versatile and exciting botanical that adds a unique twist to traditional gin recipes. As the craft distilling industry continues to evolve and experiment with new ingredients, the use of walnuts in gin production is sure to become more prevalent and appreciated by discerning drinkers around the world.

GREEN WALNUT
Harvested before their shells take shape, these zesty tannic gems gifted ink-black stains on the hands of the barefoot virgins who picked them on the summer solstice. Left to ripen until winter (the walnuts, not the virgins), the fruits of the summer labour were traditionally enjoyed as nutty, dark liqueur during deepest winter.
SAFFRON
Wars have been fought over this pungent earthy “red gold”, and here you are with it in a beautiful bottle and not a drop of bloodshed.
The spice is so elusive that Cleopatra used its intensity to enchant unsuspecting men. Now, the power is in your hands – or glass. We implore you to always put your gin in a glass.

HONEY
The sweet nectar of honey woven into our black gin delicately licks the edges of our bitter green walnut and earthy saffron, bringing equilibrium to our provocative Polarity and softening any sharpness so you won’t cut your tongue. A plush carpet greeting you at the dark entrance of our portal.
LEMON
Ah, the simple lemon. Not much to see here, only the most famous citrus in the world that’s been cultivated for 4,000 years, enhances every single savoury it’s added to (seriously, can you think
of one it wouldn’t?) and protects us
all from scurvy. It’s ok.
