Tear Drop Gin Memorable of Paisley
About Tear Drop Gin
Picture the scene.
A group of Paisley Buddies*, enjoying a family get together, discussing gin.
“There are so many great gins from all over Scotland. Why not a gin inspired by Paisley?
After all, Paisley is Scotland’s largest town.”
And so…Tear Drop Gin was born.
We wanted to create a traditional gin to reflect Paisley’s historical roots. But with the addition of two extra ingredients which remind us of growing up in our hometown…brambles and rowan berries.
Summers spent picking wild brambles from anywhere we could find them…mainly the Gleniffer Braes.
The look, smell and taste of those bramble berries still bring back fond memories of many a happy day.
A huge rowan tree stood in our back garden, next to the shed…reminiscing many a great berry fight! It is easy to close our eyes and recall the vivid red colour of the bunched berries and the scent of them left on our fingertips.
With the help `and guidance from the award winning Pete and Rich at Lost Loch Spirits in Aboyne, Tear Drop Gin was created.
Subtle sweet notes of brambles and bittersweet rowan berries, combine with classic gin ingredients, create a very fine Scottish Craft Gin.
The first Paisley Gin. Created by Buddies for Buddies who love gin.
*Paisley Buddy – For those that don’t know…the name given to a person who is from Paisley !

Our Perfect Serves
Serve 1 – Terrific with tonic
Tear Drop is terrific with tonic as the bittersweet rowan and sweet bramble berries cut through the aroma of tonic. Enjoy as a classic G&T!
Serve 2 – Brilliant with berries
The rowan and brambles distilled in Tear Drop are brought to life with a handful of fresh berries and gives a brilliant berry burst on the nose and taste. Serve with your favourite tonic or even plain soda to truly bring out the signature flavour of Tear Drop best served with ice.
Serve 3 – Simply sip and savour
Straight gin ??? Yes, that’s what we suggest as we sampled our initial run, what was apparent that the gin was good enough to drink on its own. The aroma of Tear Drop’s traditional botanicals come to the fore. They are offset by the berry sweetness and the slight warmth of black pepper. This is one you have to try…simply sip and savour.
Our Bottle Design
During the Industrial Revolution, Paisley became a major textile town. Through the manufacturing of thread and weaving, Paisley was known throughout the world…particularly for the beautifully woven Paisley Pattern shawls.
Inspired by Paisley’s history, our bottle design combines the traditional teardrop-shaped Paisley Pattern with a more abstract print of tiny teardrops.
We chose the innovative direct to print process for our bottle design by our friends at Image on Glass.
Couple launch Tear Drop gin after feeling Paisley Buddies were missing out not having their own distinctive spirit.
For decades, Paisley had a close bond with the whisky industry as the global headquarters and bottling plant of Chivas Brothers.
Chivas is now history after bailing out to Dumbarton and a corporate HQ in Glasgow’s West End.
Now, there’s a new liquor in town – and it’s dedicated to Buddies.
Tear Drop is a premium craft gin in a bottle so fancy that some buyers are turning them into table lamps.
The first two production runs totalling 700 bottles are almost a sellout, with a third run of the special brew taking place at the Highland distillery. (Daily record).
