Our unique Chai Spiced Gin expression is inspired by the refreshing and rich floral notes of Oolong white tea sourced specially from the region of Dibrugarh, Assam, from the estates once owned by the family.
The aromatic and zesty lime adds citreous notes to our gin, dry Vetiver roots adds earthiness and dryness, Rutland Square Chai Spiced Gin adds Indian cardamom, caraway seeds, cubeb peppers, angelica roots, coriander seeds, cinnamon, liquorice, Star-anise, orange peel & cloves to create a softly spiced flavour profile with a background hit of zesty citrus.

OUR STORY
INSPIRED BY OUR RICH FAMILY HISTORY.
Rutland Square Gin is inspired by a rich family story and history. Our founder’s Great Grandfather Tej Ram Bawa, was an Indian spirit entrepreneur and visionary. Tej started his journey in Assam, India, the land of tea farms. In his early days, he worked in the forest department until his entrepreneurial spirit led him to start his own business blending and creating spirits.
Tej would buy single malt whisky from the British officers stationed in Assam and blended it with his local whisky, obsessively mixing and layering tastes and aromas. He cultivated his skills as a craftsman of spirits, creating a complex blend adapted to the subtle Indian palate. His enterprise was at its peak when Britain left India which resulted in changes to the licencing act which forced him to shut his doors.
Rutland Square pays Homage to Tej Ram Bawa, taking inspiration from his vision, reviving his legacy and the family enterprise.
1940
Great-grandfather Tej Ram Bawa started blending spirits in Assam, India in 1940.
1985
His business was at its peak until in 1985 the Government changes its local regulation and prohibits the production of spirits locally.
2015
The idea of a new family enterprise is planted while sipping gin in a cigar club in India.

Handpicked from around the world, what makes our gin unique is that it is the world’s first Oolong tea infused chai spiced gin. The Oolong White tea gives our gin its sweet taste and a unique profile which produces a rich, yet clean and fresh gin.
