Roku Gin

Since I feature all Gins from the United Kingdom on this website blog, I have decided to brighten up the header of the Main Page with a photo of a Gin from Japan in order not to favor anyone and not disadvantage anyone. That’s why photo of Roku Gin.

Roku Gin is a Japanese premium gin distilled in the “Liquor Atelier”, a specialized distillery of Suntory Spirits.

The distillery has 4 different types of pot stills. Botanicals are each distilled separately to create the most flavor, but at the same time preserve the individuality of the botanicals.
For example, they use vacuum distillation in stainless steel kettles for the cherry blossoms, while copper kettles are used for the yuzu.

In total, no fewer than 14 different botanicals were used, 6 of which were typically Japanese, such as Sakura flowers, Sakura leaves, Yuzu zest, Sencha tea (green tea), Gyokuro tea and Sanshō pepper.

ONE OF THE WORLD’S MOST UNIQUE DISTILLERIES

Roku stands out as a different gin, one that is particularly Japanese. Its point of difference is mostly due to the precise balance between eight traditional gin botanicals and six uniquely Japanese botanicals. The Suntory Liquor Atelier is a unique distillery that creates a variety of spirits and spirits following the high standards set out by Suntory’s principles of artisanship.

To maintain their renowned standards, Suntory has different kinds of distilling pots at their disposal, so that specific distillation methods may be used to extract the best flavors depending on the type of botanicals in use.

BORN FROM A UNIQUE VISION

Well before Shinjiro Torii founded Suntory, he dreamed of creating a whisky that would not only appeal to the delicate Japanese palate, but also be embraced by the rest of the world. Bringing his dream to life, Shinjiro established Suntory in 1899 to brew and distill a variety of liquors, including gin. Today, Roku Gin embodies Shinjiro’s singular vision.
