Kings Hill Gin A Magnificent Beast
A Magnificent Beast…
King’s Hill takes inspiration from a brave gamble long ago between King Robert the Bruce and Sir William ‘The Crusader’ Sinclair, deep in the Pentland hills overlooking our still.
King Robert and Sir William were in the area tracking a rare white stag. The King staked his Pentland estate against the life of Sir William that he would be first to capture this magnificent beast. Sir William with the help of his trusty hounds, Help and Hold, won the bet. In return, The Crusader named the spot where King Robert stood “King’s Hill”. Drawing on this rich history; our Gin has captured the essence of the area – bold, beautiful and bloody marvellous.
Founded in 2017, King’s Hill Gin is the first spirit from The Pentland Still.
HANDCRAFTED WITH
Locally Sourced Botanicals
King’s Hill Gin is created from a meticulous blend of twelve finely curated botanicals, combined in perfect harmony and distilled in a traditional Copper Alembic Still, named ‘Marion’. The Pentland Hills offers an abundance of diverse natural resources. Gorse Flower, Heather, Wild Rosehip and Elderflower are painstakingly foraged by hand, dried and vapour infused in a copper basket during distillation. The resulting spirit captures and conveys a true sense of our terroir.
“The short version is that we really like it”

“Clean, crisp, sweet and very easy to drink, so much so I had two!”

World Gin Awards 2021 – GOLD (again!)
King’s Hill Gin, Bottle Design, GOLD.
Absolutely over the moon to let ya’ll know we have bagged another Gold at the World Gin Awards! We already have a shiny Silver Medal for taste from this year, but a matching Gold mate is even better. We knew our bottle was a real cracker and to have a Gold reassurance medal is delightful. We envisioned this bottle for some time before we brought it to life with our friend and designer Robbie from Hasta Inc (check him out at hastainc.com, he is super talented and the most genuine nice guy you will ever meet.)
We charge forwards and have huge plans and ambitions for the future, the sexy new bottle and the delicious liquid inside is creating a stir that we hope to turn into a storm very soon. Thanks again to our loyal customers for keeping the dream alive. Gin is life.

World Gin Awards 2021
We have smashed it out the park and managed a silver at the World Gin Awards 2021!
This is a cracking achievement for a wee distillery like us, the number of entrants (especially in London Dry) is staggering, so to come back with a silver amongst so many other competitors is incredible. We tend to shy away from gin competitions these days but we still stick in an entry every now and again. We won gold back in 2019 for the London Dry and didn’t enter in 2020 so this is further reassurance we are doing something right. Here is what the panel of elite judges and their carefully dialled in palate had to say on King’s Hill Gin.
“Aromas of wet leaves, pine and fresh green herbs. Some acidity on the palate with fresh fruits – apples and oranges – and juniper berries. Floral hints, and a touch of angelica and orris at the back. Nicely balanced”
Keep your eyes and ears peeled for any news at King’s Hill HQ. We have been extremely busy behind the scenes renovating our office and working on new recipes that I can’t wait to share with you very soon.
Slainte Mhath!
