Henstone Distillery was established in Oswestry, Shropshire, United Kingdom in 2017 by Chris and Alexandra Toller, and Shane and Alison Parr. Following a company restructure in August 2023 Shane and Alison left in order to concentrate on their brewing and hospitality business.
Chris and Alex have been joined by two of their four children and have serious growth plans for the distillery. Henry, pictured below, joined in November 2021 as our Sales Manager.

We feel very fortunate to have Matt Dugdale on board as our Brand Ambassador too! Matt joined in September 2023 and will help out at shows and festivals. An interesting fact about Matt is that he has the largest English Whisky collection in the World!! Pamela Hunt joined us in September 2023 to cover Flo’s imminent maternity leave (more about that soon) having bottling and distilling support responsibilities. Her previous experience, however, means she’s highly likely to stay on after Flo returns.

The distillery is currently located at the Stonehouse Brewery site. We spent several years planning our venture. After receiving a grant from the RDPE we installed an impressive 1000 litre still, affectionately named Hilda. Hilda was manufactured by Kothe in Germany and supplied to us by their UK agents Ryebeck Limited.
Our aim is to create the best quality products for people like us who enjoy sophisticated, classic spirits, but with that small batch twist. You can review our products on our product page by clicking the button below.
We believe our branding, produced with the support of Pocket Rocket Creative in Stirling reflects this.
We’re all passionate about the high calibre spirits that we’re producing and are looking forward to utilising Hilda’s many talents to create even more fabulous drinks.
The name Henstone originates from the family homes of the original co-founders. Chris and Alex live in an ex-public house called “The Hen and Chickens”, whilst Shane and Alison live in “Stone House”.
We live in a beautiful part of the world and look forward to welcoming you to it soon.

Beautifully smooth and powerful, our Navy Gin respects tradition by being above 57% ABV. Distilled by us with a blend of traditional botanicals but also containing hops and our own barley spirit to create a gin that really packs a punch! Bottled at 57.3%
Perfect as a traditional pink gin in a glass washed with Angostura bitters’. We like to serve it over ice with a chunk of pink grapefruit and either Mediterranean or Aromatic Tonic.

Best in Britain 2023, our Rosé gin is an aged London Dry Gin distilled by us with a blend of traditional botanicals. The maturation takes place in new American oak casks at 65% before bottling resulting in a subtle vanilla flavour and light golden hue. The bottling ABV is 44.9%.

Introduced to our range in spring 2023, our Strawberry and Pink Peppercorn. We’ve used loads of fresh strawberries and bashed up pink peppercorns to create this beautiful expression. Bottled at 40% ABV it is perfect with ice, tonic and a strawberry garnish. The flavour and colour are totally natural and there is no added sugar.

At it’s base is our classic London Dry in which we have then steeped (technical term is compounded) the berries and peppercorns for a very precise period of time.

Our Henstone Sloe Gin is here! . We decided to go strong for a sloe gin with an ABV of 40% and we’ve scoured the hedgerows of Shropshire and the Marches to gather to fruit to make this wonderfully warming drink. This second batch is limited to 215 x 70cl bottles and when they’re gone, they’re gone – there won’t be any more until next year!
It’s the perfect drink for your hip flask during these winter months but is also equally at home in a glass on its own or with your favourite tonic. You choose!

Our platinum founders are those customers who have committed to our ‘cask ownership scheme’. If you are interested in becoming a member of this group then please get in touch and we’ll explain what we have on offer. The platinum founder’s individual contracts explain what they are entitled to. As you can see, we currently have seven customers in this category.
Copper Founders
This is a shout out to all those people who helped us at the beginning of our whisky journey by purchasing bottles from our very first ex-bourbon cask and from our first ex-sherry casks. Our Copper Founder category is now SOLD OUT!

Introduction
Ever wanted to know how a distillery works? Then book yourself on a Henstone Distillery tour and find out!
Come and meet Hilda our impressive 1000 litre Pot/Column hybrid still and learn how we produce our spirits. The tours are limited to about ten attendees and tickets cost £20.00 per person in advance and must be ordered online via our webshop.

Please arrive on time so the tour can start promptly.
The tour is in a working distillery so please wear suitable shoes (flat soles) and suitable clothing (to keep warm and dry).

Unsurprisingly the highlight of the day was the tasting of your award winning selection of spirits. It was very hard to say which I preferred most. Needless to say I fudged it as I bought a bottle of your ex bourbon cask whiskey and a bottle of your charcoal filtered vodka. Harriet purchased a bottle of the Rosé Gin and a bottle of Apple Brandy Nonpareil.

“Wowsa what a great tour and taste hosted by Chris the owner, my wife booked it as a surprise, she knows me too well!,
Chris provided an excellent insight on distilling in an A to z manner, we learned a lot despite being to other distilleries, the products are delightful to say the least, despite being a whiskey fan I have found vodka on Nother level and a couple of gins that it’s a sin to add mixers too, my wife Hels couldn’t agree more, back to the whiskey however, the range is fabulous and soon to be added to with different aged stock ( can’t wait), the single malt is classy, I like to ‘hunt’ down reviered whiskey recommended by noble tasters, I first learned of Henstone from Jim Murray whiskey bible (what a job he has 😉 ),
I can’t believe these products are on our door as we live in Shrewsbury, but glad they are, the peared taint whiskey I found mild but delicious in its own right in other ways, I am a man that finds Ardberg tame however, so I’m hard to please re peat, please keep up the good work Chris and team, take care of Hilda, she does you proud.
