Gordons London Dry a brilliant tasting gin

Gin is one of the oldest and most historic category of spirits. Classically made from juniper berries, the combination of additional botanicals gives each gin brand its unique characteristics and taste.

There are many botanicals used to flavour gin but the most common are floral, spicy, woody and citrus.

Find out more about our gins, Gordon’s and Tanqueray.

Alexander Gordon started as he meant to go on — by sourcing the finest possible ingredients. This attention to detail and high juniper content has earned Gordon’s the recognition as the ‘ginniest’ of gins.

Alexander Gordon’s passion for business began to take shape in 1769. He built a distillery in Southwark, London which was well known for its excellent, clean water supply. Then he mastered the art of distilling a gin of high standards that could be trusted and enjoyed by all.

Today, Gordon’s is the world’s number one best-selling Gin. Awarded four Royal Warrants and an impressive selection of international gin prizes.

Original for almost 250 years, Gordon’s created the classic gin character to make the perfect G&T with a clean, juniper dominant taste. From early in our history we have been exporting around the world and today have earned the status of the World’s Favourite Gin.

But while we are very proud of our history, at the end of the day we are a gin for enjoyment.

Alexander Gordon was one of the first to pioneer the distillation of fine quality gin. In 1769 he founded his distilling business in the Southwark area of London and began perfecting his own brand using only the finest natural botanical ingredients to create the flavour that he desired.

Gordon’s was a pioneer in the cocktail space, launching the first Cocktail Shaker bottle in 1924 in response to the growing trend of cocktail parties but people not being sure on how to make them correctly. This demonstrates how innovation has always been central to the brand and why it continues to be the worlds most popular gin.

1960

By the 1960’s, Gordon’s had acheived the status of being the world’s best selling gin brand. Gordon’s was distributed the world over. Their advertising was also becoming more playful and starting to develop a distinct TOV.

Same great award-winning gin as the classic green Gordon’s bottle. Not long after we started bottling in the early 1900’s, we had our first big order of Gordon’s to be sent to Australia! To mark the occasion we designed a new export label which we still use today.

Some of our ambitious 2030 targets include:

  • Educate 10 million people on the dangers of underage drinking
  • Achieve 50% representation of women in leadership roles
