Goosnargh Gin Intriguing Production / The Owners

Multi-award winning Goosnargh Gin is lovingly crafted by us, Richard and Rachel Trenchard, at our working distillery based at the foot of Beacon Fell. Being situated on the edge of the Forest of Bowland Natural Landscape (Formerly AONBs) in the parish of Goosnargh, Lancashire, we are immersed in the inspiration for our products.

TELLING OUR STORY CHAPTER BY CHAPTER

After varied careers in journalism and education respectively for more than 20 years, we founded Goosnargh Gin in January 2018. Building on a long held passion for true small batch production and quality ingredients. This allowed us to take more than a decade of amassed knowledge in the field, to forge our own path as producers and tell our story. We are surrounded by the inspiration for our range of gins, from the diverse botanicals, to the spectacular geography and rich heritage of the area.

We were delighted to achieve our first award, a Gold for our Chapter One Signature Gin, in the prestigious International Wine and Spirit Competition in 2019. We have since gone on to be awarded further local, national and International accolades, which we are equally proud of and are not only testament to the consistent high quality of our products, but also the immersive experiences we offer. We are also proud holders of a Green Tourism Gold accreditation which we have held since 2021

At Goosnargh Gin we are fiercely independent. This means you will never see our products being sold through mass-market routes either in-store or online, or being served through national chains. All our retailer stockists are independent businesses who share our passion for quality and embrace our strong ethos and values. This decision is at the core of what we do and ensures we are offering a real point of difference to our customers, retailer stockists, and on-trade establishments.

THE STORY CONTINUES…

In May 2024 Goosnargh Gin’s little sister ‘Trough’ launched at Chew’s Yard in Preston. An exciting, unique food and drink venue and event space, incorporating a walled courtyard garden right in the city. As well as serving our gins, spritzes and cocktails, we also have a food menu which champions local and independent producers and suppliers.

Thank you for joining our story.

Best wishes,

Richard and Rachel

Goosnargh Gin Intriguing Production

All our gins are Chapters and each has a unique profile and part to play in telling our story. Identifying each gin as a Chapter of our story is also a nod to Richard’s previous career in journalism and writing.

We are surrounded by the inspiration for our range of gins, right here in the Forest of Bowland, Lancashire. From the diverse botanicals, to the spectacular geography and rich heritage of the area, each Chapter captures the spirit of Bowland.

Our gins are distilled by us in small batches, using our bespoke copper pot still named Bea. We personally develop all our own recipes in-house and insist on using the highest quality botanicals which are either foraged, expertly grown for us or ethically and sustainably sourced from top quality suppliers. Once we have the blend of botanicals absolutely right, Bea is then set to work distilling our handcrafted, small batch gin ready for bottling and hand labelling. All bottles are hand finished by us, including handwritten details, such as the batch and bottle number.

Spend an hour with us selecting a blend of botanicals of your personal preference with our guidance throughout. Once you have your final blend recipe, all botanicals will be weighed out ready to be taken home as part of a kit containing everything you will need (see below), including full instructions to create your very own 70cl bathtub-style gin, unique to you.

Spend an hour with us talking botanicals and your personal preferences, working to create a recipe choosing from our vast range of botanicals. Your final recipe will then be distilled later by us, to create a 70cl bottle of your own recipe gin. Your gin can be posted out or collected by you when ready. This is an ideal option if you’re limited on time, visiting the area for or short period, or even if you’d prefer to allow your botanicals to have a longer maceration period than can be attained in our other distilling experiences.

If you can’t make it to us to participate in either of the options above in person, we’re bringing Gin School Express to you! This is an opportunity to create either of the options above via an online consultation to select your botanicals for the option of your choice from the above.
