Na het overlijden van mijn vader vond ik het mijn roeping om de tuin en voortuin van mijn ouderlijk huis een volledige upgrade te geven. Tijdens Covid periode was het een uitgelezen kans om mijn werk als webdesigner te combineren met gezonde handenarbeid. De oude vijver werd omgebouwd naar een gezellige zitlounge , er werden bloembakken vervaardigd rond de boom en in de voortuin wat het geheel volledig opfriste.
Het was dan ook een uitgelezen kans om te experimenteren met epoxy wat niet zo evident is in de buitenlucht. De gekende amine blush die optreed bij epoxygietingen die constant worden blootgesteld aan regenwater. De lounge werd voorzien van een stevige onderbouw van betonsteen waar ik ook de oude buitenvloer in weg kon werken. Recyclage op eigen terrein aldus.
De onderbouw is technisch berekend op een draagkracht voor een massa van 1200kg per m² , best veel zou je zeggen maar gezien ik de leegtes tussen de betonsteen heb opgevuld met de oude buitenvloer kom ik uit per m² op 850kg.
1Ding is nu wel duidelijk er kan wel degelijk een olifant op mijn lounge gaan zitten zonder gevaar van verzakking. De oude put van 80cm diep afkomstig van de oude vijver is dan ook met grote zorg stabiel gemaakt. Onder de zitgedeeltes van de lounge is ook een betonnen vloer van 12cm gegoten.
Ik ben dan na 1500 uren arbeid trots op mijn werk dat ik voor 100% op mijn eentje heb verwezelijkt.Nu zit mijn moeder proper voor de rest van haar dagen.

After 1500 hours of work, I am proud of my work that I achieved 100% on my own. Now my mother is clean for the rest of her days.

Om het afwisselend effect te creëren heb ik gebruik gemaakt van het design hout Douglas, perfect voor buiten na een coating van bootvernis van degelijke kwaliteit en het geïmpregneerde grenen.
Om te experimenteren ben ik bij polyestershoppen begonnen omdat ik ze kende van de vernissen en 2componenten verven waar ik mijn standbeeld van de leeuw van vlaanderen, voor ons althans, heb bewerkt. Het resultaat is verbluffend na 4jaar is hij nog volledig intact gebleven.
De gieting is aangebracht volgens de voorschriften van de leverancier maar mijn gieting was na 1jaar volledig gebarsten en ik kon niet anders dan uitslijpen en opnieuw beginnen.
Jammer van mijn eerste creatie maar je betaalt altijd leergeld en dat is dan maar zo. Mijn 2de gieting is dan ook tot op heden intact gebleven.
To experiment, I started shopping for polyester because I knew them from the varnishes and 2-component paints where I worked on my statue of the Lion of Flanders, at least for us. The result is astonishing, after 4 years it has still remained completely intact.
The casting was applied according to the supplier’s instructions, but my casting was completely cracked after 1 year and I had no choice but to grind it out and start again. 2nd time lucky with the Epoxy from Epodex Buy epoxy resin in the best quality from the manufacturer EPODEX, apparently I had a better product in my hands. Too bad about my first creation, but you always pay a tuition fee and that’s how it is. My 2nd casting has remained intact to this day.
