Founded in 2017 by Graham Taylor, Crafty Distillery has earned a reputation for delivering big on quality & taste. Creative thinking and hard work sit at the core of what it takes to deliver on the promise of ‘craft’.
Built by his father Billy, our unique and modern distillery, is like no other. Set on a hillside with far reaching views to the Galloway Hills, our warm and inviting tasting room is the perfect place to relax and enjoy our range of tasty spirits. Every year we welcome over 25,000 visitors to learn the secrets of our process.

Our heavily awarded Hills & Harbour Gin delivers a vibrant and smooth taste of the forests and coastline of Galloway, elegantly packaged in an innovative and eco-friendly bottle.
With local Noble Fir needles and Bladderwrack Seaweed, it leads with juniper and is balanced with hints of forest fir, tropical fruit, citrus spice, tangy sherbet and a subtle scent of the shore.
One of the rare gins in Scotland to be distilled with our own spirit, we take local wheat and water combine in our 7 day fermentation process to create maximum character and mouth feel. This process takes more time, energy, cost and know-how, but delivering a gin that lives up to the true meaning of ‘craft’ is essential for us.
Hills&Harbour Distilled Gin Cocktail – 70cl

Burnt Orange & Smoked Pineapple join our Hills & Harbour Gin to create the world’s first and only 40% abv distilled gin cocktail. Made using 100% fresh fruit, we put days of graft and craft into every batch.
To capture the fresh flavours we hand-smoke, torch, macerate, press and then distill to create a full strength cocktail. We love it over ice, shaken up and strained martini style or for a long serve why not get creative with flavoured soda waters.

The modern building is clad in local larch wood inside and out, delivering a warm and inviting space to enjoy. Nestled on the edge of Newton Stewart the modern grain to glass distillery pumps out gallons of tasty stuff and delivers panoramic views over the Galloway Hills.
The distillery shop features a truly unique ‘Tree Bar’. Made with a single piece of local Douglas Fir tree and weighing in at over 3 tonnes, it makes a striking centrepiece to the retail area, where you’ll find all the award-winning spirits, branded gifts and premium mixers.
Take your taste buds on a tour of this award-winning distillery, where you’ll learn the secrets of the process for their vibrant gins, pure vodka and Single Malt Scotch Whisky plans.
After the tour you’ll then be taking on a guided tasting through 3 x perfect serves of their spirits. You’ll get to enjoy a smooth & vibrant Hills & Harbour Gin, the fruity Hills & Harbour Distilled Gin Cocktail and then a silky smooth limited 24Seven Vodka, all while enjoying the amazing views over the Galloway hills.
Tour timings run at 11:30am & 1:30pm, Wednesday to Saturday. All tours must be booked in advance.
Visitors must be 18 years and over to consume alcohol or be offered a sample (ID may be required).

DISTILLERY SHOP
Our distillery shop is packed full of our tasty spirits, gifts, local products and our staff will always offers a warm welcome, advise on any questions you have, and if time is a push and you can’t join a tour, a little sample or two has been know to be handed out.
SHOP OPENING TIMES
Tuesday – Friday, 11am until 4pm.
Saturday – 11am until 5pm.
Well behaved dogs are welcome in our shop, however dogs are not able to join tours.

For all gin fans out there, a very warm welcome awaits you at Crafty Distillery in gorgeous Galloway to join us on a unique tour for your taste buds, where we’ll also share the secrets of our process.
Meet our friendly team as you are guided through our innovative approach to making our award-winning gins and vodka, learning each step of the process, driven by our uniquely inclusive approach ‘to create spirits for everyone who likes a tipple’. You will discover the unique blend of botanicals that come together to create our heavily awarded Hills & Harbour Gin, the hands on approach that goes into capturing the big fresh flavours from Smoked Pineapples & Burnt Oranges and the slow and careful that crafts our exquisitely pure Scottish vodka.
What’s more, we always go the extra mile at Crafty, so rather than serve a few small gin samples, we’ll take you on a guided tasting through 3x perfect serves of their spirits. You’ll get to enjoy our smooth & vibrant Hills & Harbour Gin, fruity Hills & Harbour Distilled Gin Cocktail and our silky pure 24Seven Vodka, all while kicking back and enjoying the amazing views over the Galloway hills.
We also cater for vehicle drivers who can take away a sample to enjoy later.
