POPTI Cornish bakehouse rolling pin

Popti Cornish bakehouse was launched in February 2015, producing the award-winning range of Popti Savoury Thins; a perfect complement to the charcuterie, as well as being delicious snacks in their own right. The team has years of  combined food experience and our skilled bakery staff are supported by Fionagh and Richard’s passion for food and their mentoring as company founders.

Popti cornish bakehouse artisan savoury biscuits

Popti’s biscuits are made in small batches with the kind of ingredients you’d find in your kitchen at home, rich butter, wheat flour and seasonings. There are no artificial flavourings, colourings or preservatives added, but the secret recipe results in crisp biscuits which last! Proud of its Cornish roots (“Popti” means “Bakery in Cornish!) they aim to use as many local ingredients as possible including fine flake Cornish Sea Salt and Cornish Seaweed’s dulse.

Popti’s crackers for cheese range have been developed specifically for pairing with cheeses.  With an abundance of flavours to choose from with varying distinction from the mild and sweet oat and Cornish buttermilk, perfect with a strong cheese like Coronation Gold, to the earthy beetroot and caraway cracker which is wonderful paired with a soft goat’s cheese such as Nanny Muffet.

The Cornish Distilling Co

The Cornish Distilling Co. led and founded by Richard Harding is Cornwall’s first scratch rum distillery, creating British rum from scratch in Bude, Cornwall.  Despite being a rum distillery Cornish Distilling have created some fabulous gins in their own right with Bude Gin and its unique botanicals a definite must.

The first rum in the range, lovingly developed by Head Distiller Tom Read, Kalkar coffee rum was released in September 2017 to critical acclaim and won three gold stars at the Great Taste Awards.  Kalkar is a smooth Cornish distilled rum, that has been expertly blended with single origin cold brew coffee.

Praise for Kalkar…

“Genuine, aromatic, complex, cold brew  coffee flavour, masterfully made into a  liqueur. It has no bitterness, lots of character  and raises the bar on coffee liqueurs.”

“A real grown up indulgence, step aside Espresso Martini.”

Realised in 2018, The Cornish Distilling Co’s Morvenna spiced British rum and Morvenna white British rum is fermented, distilled and bottled on site in Bude Cornwall, these are truly special and authentic Cornish rums.

The new Moon Curser Cornish spiced rum is inspired by the hidden coves and rocky inlets that Cornwall has long been notorious for. Here smuggling was rife, as the moon cursers stole their imports ashore in the dead of night, to become the stuff of local legend.

As always, every bottle is fermented, distilled and bottled by The Cornish Distilling Co at Norton Barton Artisan Food Village.

The Cornish Distilling company’s first voyage away from rum!

Crafted on the hills overlooking Bude Bay, inspired by the landscape that surrounds the distillery. Juniper and fresh citrus are complemented by nine other botanicals. Kelp and bladderwrack seaweed provides depth a splash of minerality, while cardamom and grains of paradise add fragrant spice and a subtle peppery finish. The result is a delicious Cornish Dry Gin with a quintessential seaside twist.

Suggested Serve: We want to keep this simple and let the gin shine. Just add your favourite tonic, a slice of lemon, some ice and enjoy!

Like much of Cornwall’s coastline, Bude is renowned for its spectacular ocean sunsets. The sun appears to pause for a few more precious moments, before dropping below the horizon bathing us in a sea of reds, oranges and pinks.

To celebrate this magical time of day we’ve infused our Cornish Dry Gin with raspberry, rose and cardamom, to create “Cornish Sunset Gin”. Pair with your favourite mixer for the perfect sundown drink.

An iconic landmark of Bude and recognised across the country, Bude Sea Pool provides a fun, safe haven for people of all ages to enjoy throughout the year.

To ensure the vital upkeep and maintenance of the Sea Pool, the charity Friends of Bude Sea Pool (FoBSP) was set up in 2011.

Together with FoBSP we have developed a gin flavoured with a selection of clifftop herbs. The result is a fresh, crisp gin with soft herbal undertones coming from wild chamomile, thyme and gorse. Other botanicals include, juniper, coriander, angelica, fresh lemon, lime and grapefruit, cassia and orris root.

10% of all Bude Sea Pool Gin sales will be donated to FoBSP.
